Happy October my Smart is Sexy peeps!

I’m excited this month to share you a book recommended to me by one of my mentors and so far it is a killer read, I highly recommend it! If you haven’t joined us on the pledge, read about it here and welcome to the team, we’re glad to have you!

This month we are reading: Setting the Table, the Transforming Power of hospitality in business by Danny Meyer

This book isn’t just another New York Times Bestseller, it actually kicks ass! The book breaks down the authors journey in retrospect as he acquires knowledge about food, good taste, hospitality, business, all of which can be applicable in our day-to-day lives and relevant in our everyday interactions. Think of it like this– do we like to eat? well yea. Do we have to talk to people everyday? well yea. So how does it all come together? you read the book 🙂

Danny Meyer comes from a perspective of running successful restaurants- think Shake Shack in New York, yea serious yum, with lots of good advice that stems from getting his hands dirty, and working his way up in the industry, to sweet sweet success. I think we can relate, no? It is also a smart book to pick up pointers if you are looking for that ‘edge’…in interviews, amongst the competition or in assessing the right candidates to hire. A smart read for sure!

Bon Appetit, Bon Apetito!

  1. Ohh I want to read that! I am currently finishing up “The Receptionist an Education at the New Yorker” it has been a good read so far. A little dry, and it is set a few years back, but it nothing like what I expected. I expected a book entirely stemmed around the magazine production side, however, this book takes you on a journey from the female protagonist’s point of view on finding herself while taking on this position.

    Love you!

    • Sounds interesting! I’ll check out, I love people’s suggestions to what they are reading, there are so many good books but also so many bad books, so I like that we help give advice and filter through the bullshit! Woohooo Beijo Sheila!
