That is a direct quote from one of my favorite Integrative & Functional Medicine Physicians, Dr. Frank Lipman. Below is the recipe of one of the smoothies I just can’t get enough of provided from Dr.Lipman. It’s too good not to share!!

Kale, Mint and Coconut Smoothie

Kale, Mint and Coconut Smoothie

Recipe:

1 serving protein powder – preferably non dairy

1 cup shredded kale

1/4 cup of fresh mint

juice of 1 lime

1 small box coconut water (11 oz.)

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

4 ice cups

Directions: Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Drink up smarty pants and get your sexy on!

This smoothie rocks because not only is it easy to do, but it also works with things I have in my fridge or pantry already. I personally have not done the smoothie with a protein powder so if you do, let me know how it is! Mint and Kale are anti-inflammatory ingredients (inflammation can aggravate skin issues and lead to acne). Kale on its own helps contribute to the skin’s hydration and elasticity. Coconut works as a boost of antioxidants, which are nutrients that help remove free radicals from our skin cause by outside stressors like city pollution and sun.

    The ingredients itself are enticing and sounds a great combination. The creaminess of the coconut water with the refreshing aroma of the mint plus all the healthy properties of the ingredients sounds the perfect blend. Chin chin! thanks for the info.
