When was the last time you picked up a novel, walked the isles of a library or bookstore?
Pause the netflix queue, clear your amazon basket…do they even exist?

Those long clean lines, countless corridors, and colorful books enclose a lifetime of writing, each one a different story, each one a different world.
What if people approached you with the same intrigue, soft curiosity we approach novels with. Something catches your interest, a color, a texture, an image, a name…..all from a distance, before you approach, evaluating if you want to know their story.
Everyone has a story, what is your going to be?
As a novel takes shape, it has movement, the words sway you, envelop your brain with delicate images, alluring, like watching someone from a distance…a little raw, a little vulnerable….a little down right creepy sometimes. But something is very sexy about a good book, a good story, a good adventure, some wanderlust, some passion, just as much as the person looking for it…
The Independent highlights a study conducted by Emory University with 21 students showing that there are measurable changes in the brain that linger up to five days after reading a book. Neuroscientist Professor Gregory Berns, lead author of the study, told The Independent. “We already knew that good stories can put you in someone else’s shoes in a figurative sense. Now we’re seeing that something may also be happening biologically.” The book Pompeii, a 2003 thriller by Robert Harris, was chosen for study participants to read because “It depicts true events in a fictional and dramatic way. It was important to us that the book had a strong narrative line,” said Professor Berns. Pompeii follows the story of a protagonist who is outside the city and begins to notice bizarre things happening around the volcano. The students read portions of the book in the evening, and then followed with an fMRI scan the next morning. After completing the book, their brains were scanned for the following five days. And, the results showed that the neurological changes that occurred while the students were reading the book continued for each of the five days after they finished.
